The "Rules" of the ObedienceUK List

The ObedienceUK list is for the discussion of issues relating to Competitive Dog Obedience and allied topics of interest to competitors. The occasional drift of a subject into an off topic area, or the occasional anecdotal or informational message is to be expected and not discouraged. However, we have created a separate list ObedUKChat for those who would like to discuss non-dog related subjects, or jokes.

Commercial advertising is not permitted. If you wish to advertise, then this can be done on the ObedienceUK website, through the eShop, directly with Les Perry.

Announcements that are of direct and specific relevance to Obedience are welcome.

As an anti-virus precaution the posting of binaries or other encoded data files (pictures for example) as attachments to mails is not permitted.

All postings should be plain text, HTML and other forms of formatting markup are not permitted and will be removed.

Links to relevant external information sources (Web or FTP urls, for example) are welcome.

Posters to the ObedienceUK are encouraged to follow established guidelines for mailing list and newsgroup postings, such as answering messages by placing replies below an appropriately edited copy of the original message and using signatures of 4 lines or less. It is also useful to place a -- (dash dash space) on the line before your signature, many mail programs (not Outlook Express, unfortunately) strip off anything following this when replying to messages, thus making for less clutter in quoted text. It is important to try to keep messages concise, since many members access the ObedienceUK Lists via a slow mobile phone connection.

Members should try to avoid including large amounts of text from previous messages when replying, and those receiving the Digest version of the List must be particularly careful not to include the complete Digest in their replies.

Members flouting the above guidelines may, at the discretion or the List Owner, be suspended from posting to the List, persistent offenders may be removed from the List

Remember that a message author retains its copyright, messages from this list may not be quoted anywhere outside the list without the author's permission, and quoting ObedienceUK Mailing List as the original source.

If you have any problems or questions about the operation of the list, or a complaint about any message posted to the List, please email:
obedienceuk-owner@yahoogroups.com

How to turn off HTML in Outlook Express

You can turn off  HTML in Outlook Express by going to Tools -> Options -> Send, then select Mail sending format: Plain Text.

It's also a good idea to uncheck *Reply to messages using the format in which they were sent*

Changing email address

Don't forget, if you are subscribed to the List and you change your email address, you must unsubscribe from your old address and resubscribe from your new address. If you have cancelled your old email address and forgotten to unsubscribe, email the List Manager and ask to be unsubscribed manually.
